Use variables in Shortcuts. In Shortcuts, you can: Place a variable in a text field: For example, you can place a variable in the text field of an email shortcut, letting you choose a specific salutation (such as “Dear Sir” or “Dear Madam”) when you run the shortcut.
This session is a follow up to Automating OmniFocus 3 Using Siri Shortcuts: Basics and takes a deeper dive into more advanced productivity workflows that can be automated using Siri Shortcuts.

We’ll build on the examples we explored in the Basics session, customizing them to add power and flexibility. We’ll also delve into some new territory and explore the many ways that OmniFocus can be automated alongside services, iOS apps, and web apps.
- Once the workflow has been triggered by the OmniFocus plug-in, and a picture has been taken, the built-in OmniFocus Shortcuts actions are used to create a new task that includes the taken picture as an image attachment. The workflow finishes by returning the unique task identifier string to the calling plug-in.
