I recently wanted to replace Transmission with qBittorrent as my go-to torrenting client as I've read several places that the latter has a better UI, security, etc. I use a dual-booted Macbook Pro running macOS High Sierra and Windows 10. I tried installing qBittorrent on the mac partition first. Run the below command to install the latest available python 3 package from the EPEL repository: # yum -disablerepo='.' -enablerepo='epel' install python34 By default it does not install the applicable pip and setuptools, and you must install them from the URL below with the curl command.
Open source and free application that allows you to download torrents on your Mac, offering an alternative to the usual torrent downloaders
What's new in qBittorrent 4.3.4.1:
- BUGFIX: Correctly draw progress bar (glassez)
- WEBUI: Fix javascript code which broke the UI (Chocobo1)
qBittorrent is a peer to peer Bittorrent client that has been developed using the Qt4 toolkit and the libtorrent-rasterbar. The project is maintained by volunteers, and is available on multiple platforms, such as macOS, Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, or OS/2.
User friendly Bittorrent client that integrates searching capabilities
Finding you way around the qBittorrent application proves to be fairly intuitive: the main window is separated in two tabs, one for monitoring transfers, and one for finding new torrents. qBittorrent will perform searches on multiple BitTorrent sites at the same time, and even allows you to restrict the results to a specific category.
For each torrent in the results list, qBittorrent allows you to see the archive size, the source search engine, and the number of leechers and seeders. In addition, you can choose to open the torrent description page in your default web browser.
Integrates basic download management capabilities
To help you get started, qBittorrent allows you to send a specific torrent to the download list with a simple mouse click. Of course, you can also manually open torrent files, or add them to the list with a simple drag and drop.
qBittorrent includes support for most of the operations one should expect to perform when dealing with torrents: content selection, queueing, prioritizing, and so on. In addition, you can also use qBittorrent to make your own torrents and share them with others.
Naturally, via the app’s Preferences, you get to adjust both the download and the upload limits, you can change the default download location, the maximum number of allowed connections, you get to direct the traffic through a proxy server, and much more.
Simple but efficient BitTorrent desktop client for performing P2P transfers
qBittorrent follows the familiar design of many other P2P desktop clients, which makes it extremely easy to use even by inexperienced users. What’s more, qBittorrent integrates a search tool that can help you perform queries on multiple search engines with minimal effort.
